Jenny Peed, M.S. CCC-SLP

Serving Durham, North Carolina

Our founder, Jenny, grew up on the coast of North Carolina, and enjoys helping toddlers and preschoolers find their voices! She earned her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Carolina University, is professionally licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists, and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Jenny founded Honeybee Therapy Services in 2020, has been working directly with families, teachers, and caregivers to provide individualized treatment to her clients ever since! Jenny is passionate about early intervention, and has worked with a variety of populations including infants, toddlers, preschool-age and school-age children. Jenny’s professional experience primarily takes place in Head Start, preschool, home-based, and daycare settings, as well as the Honeybee clinic. Jenny focuses her therapy practices on child-led, play-based therapy, and neurodiversity-affirming techniques. She utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches, and strives to facilitate collaboration with families and teachers throughout the intervention process in order to maximize results. Jenny believes in creating a successful environment for each individual child. She loves incorporating songs and music routines into therapy, and tapping into each child’s talents and interests to make every session as fun as possible. Jenny believes that every child has unique strengths, and utilizing those strengths is the key to success! In her spare time, Jenny enjoys hiking with her dog, baking, and attempting to visit every coffee shop in the Triangle! She hopes to someday combine her passions of helping people and traveling by working as a Speech-Language Pathologist abroad, helping children find their voices around the world!

Megan Vu, M.S. CCC-SLP

Serving Durham and Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Megan Vu is a Vietnamese American speech-language pathologist from Jamestown, NC. She enjoys celebrating cultural diversity and creating environments where clients feel a sense of belonging. She earned her B.S. in Linguistics at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and graduated with a Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Carolina University in 2020. Megan grew up alongside two vibrant sisters, one with a communication disability, and gained a personal appreciation of the positive impact that SLP’s brought to her family. Megan is professionally licensed by the board of North Carolina and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Megan finds the most joy working with 1 to 3 years olds, preschool, and elementary school age children. She currently bases her practice within homes, daycares, the Honeybee Therapy clinic, and even the Museum of Life and Science in Durham! Megan stays current on researched evidence-based practices with an emphasis on child-led, play-based therapy. Megan provides therapeutic interventions in the Triangle area for children with speech sound disorders, oral-motor planning difficulties, language delays, developmental delays, congenital disorders, and neurodiversity-affirming communication goals for Autistic children. For leisure, Megan loves art projects and home decorating, outdoor activities with her husband and goldendoodle Lucy, and enjoying boba milk tea with friends. Megan's core belief is that incorporating a person’s interests and building upon their strengths are the keys to effective speech therapy. She is here to help your family thrive with the power of communication in hand!

Lauren Bundy, M.S. CCC-SLP

Serving Durham, North Carolina

Lauren grew up near Charlotte, North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Therapy from University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2017 and moved to Durham that same year. Lauren earned her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from North Carolina Central University. Lauren is licensed by the board of North Carolina and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Throughout graduate school, Lauren served individuals in a variety of settings including preschool clinics, public schools, and adult clinics. Her professional experience has focused on preschool and school age children with articulation and phonological disorders, fluency disorders, autism spectrum disorders and language disorders. Previously, Lauren has served pediatric populations in outpatient clinics, preschools, daycares, elementary schools and client homes. Lauren believes that incorporating a client's interests and strengths lead to successful and exciting growth. She believes that a supportive team approach is most beneficial to the child. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family, exploring Raleigh-Durham, and taking walks with her dog.

Erin Smith, M.S. CCC-SLP

Serving Durham and Morrisville, North Carolina

Erin grew up in Belmont, North Carolina, a small city outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. She earned both her bachelor’s and her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Appalachian State University. Erin is licensed by the board of North Carolina and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. While in graduate school, Erin served individuals ranging from infants to geriatrics, but found that she most enjoys working with children. Erin took her first job out of graduate school working at a pediatric private practice and has since continued to work in pediatric private practices, preschools, and homes. Her professional experience has focused on preschool and school-age children who have a variety of communication impairments such as articulation and phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, receptive and expressive language impairments, autism spectrum disorder, fluency disorders, and more. Erin believes in working to build connections with clients, creating a fun environment, and discovering each clients interests and strengths in order to help each child learn and grow in therapy. She enjoys employing evidence-based practices, emphasizing both child-centered and child-led play-based therapy approaches. She enjoys collaborating with other professionals for a well-rounded approach to client care. In her spare time, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She also enjoys cooking new recipes, visiting coffee shops, and going to the mountains.

Sheila Mejia SLP

Sheila "Shay" Mejia, M.A. CCC-SLP

Serving Durham, North Carolina

Sheila “Shay” Mejia is a certified Bilingual Speech-language pathologist fluent in Spanish and English. She earned her B.S. in Psychology with a Minor in Biology at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, and graduated with a Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She is professionally licensed by the Board of North Carolina and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech- Language- Hearing Association. Shay has worked in a variety of settings including homes, daycares, clinics, and schools. She has experience working with children with a variety of speech language disorders including Autism, Developmental delays, Expressive and Receptive language disorders, and Articulation/ Phonological disorders. Shay loves creating fun therapy activities for her clients, and enjoys seeing her clients smile, especially after meeting their goals! Shay gets excited helping parents learn new ideas and strategies that help their children excel in therapy. In her spare time, Shay loves spending time with her 5-year-old daughter and her family. Shay enjoys going to the beach in the summers and to the mountains in the fall. She loves animals, especially dogs and baby goats. Shay also loves coffee, ice cream, and listening to music.

Nicole Mattia SLP

Nicole Mattia, M.A. CCC-SLP

Serving Durham, North Carolina

Nicole grew up on Long Island in New York, where she earned her master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Hofstra University. She is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in both New York and North Carolina, and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She is also a member of the North Carolina Speech Language Hearing Association. ​ Nicole began her speech language pathology journey in New York working with multilingual preschoolers! From there, she began working solely with students on the autism spectrum. She has a special love for AAC and helping students find their voice! In 2021, Nicole made the move to Durham, NC where she works in the public school system during the day, and the Honeybee Therapy Services clinic in the afternoons! Nicole has provided therapy to children ages 2-15 and has worked in the areas of speech sound disorders, receptive/expressive language impairments, sensory feeding delays, autism spectrum disorders, as well as with students who are medically fragile. She has much experience working with English-language-learners and diverse populations. Nicole believes speech-language therapy should be a fun, interactive experience for kids, because it allows them to fully embrace learning! ​ Nicole loves to travel and be outside in nature, and often attempts to include each child’s interests in her therapy sessions. Her main belief is that every child has something to share with the world, sometimes they just need a helping hand!

Emily Myles, SLP

Emily Myles, M.S. CCC-SLP

Serving Durham, North Carolina

Emily grew up in a small town near Hickory, NC. She attended Appalachian State University where she earned her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. In 2019, she graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with her M.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Emily maintains her professional license with the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists, and has obtained her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Emily loves working with toddler, preschool, and school aged populations! She has previously worked in elementary schools and a multidisciplinary pediatric clinic with a variety of populations. Emily has provided therapy to address speech sound disorders, motor speech disorders, language delays/disorders, stuttering, and a variety of developmental disorders. She loves building individualized relationships with her clients and their families and incorporating client interests into each therapy session! Emily has a passion for accepting and promoting all forms of communication such as use of signing/gestures and augmentative and alternative communication devices when appropriate in addition to speech. She is devoted to seeking out continuing education and has developed recent specific interests in Natural Language Acquisition frameworks and neuro-diversity affirming practices. Outside of work, Emily loves to spend time with her husband and two young daughters exploring parks and museums across the Triangle!

Madison Simpson, M.S. CCC-SLP

Serving Durham, North Carolina

Madison Simpson, a second-generation pediatric speech-language pathologist, is passionate about making communication both fun and functional! A lifelong North Carolinian, Madison earned her B.S. in Child Development and Psychology from Meredith College and her M.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021. She is professionally licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Madison specializes in working with families of children with complex speech and language needs, addressing challenges with phonology, articulation, fluency, social skills, and receptive and expressive language. She loves forming meaningful connections with autistic individuals and supporting use of augmentative and alternative forms of communication (AAC). Madison firmly believes that communication is a fundamental human right and is dedicated to providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each child's unique needs. She has embraced a neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based approach to learning and understands that play facilitates progress. Madison’s greatest joy comes from building enriching relationships with families and witnessing children discover the power of communication and connection. She prioritizes creating a playful and encouraging environment in each therapy session. Outside of work, Madison enjoys quality time with her husband and improvising silly songs about her cat, Hamilton. She loves all things nature-based including hiking, kayaking, and swimming.
